Suet – A Superfood for Every Season

Suet – A Superfood for Every Season

What is Suet?

Suet is a high-energy food made from animal fat. It is often mixed with a variety of ingredients, not limited to seeds, berries, mealworms and insects. Suet can be bought in many forms, from suet cakes to colourful pellets – all eye-catching to birds and attractive for your garden.

Benefits

Suet provides birds with essential fats and nutrients, crucial for their health. During winter, it helps birds maintain their body heat, and throughout the breeding season, it supports the constant demands faced by parents. It is a superfood that appeals to many species and a food we would certainly recommend you have in your garden.

DIY Suet Recipes

If you’re feeling creative, why not make your own suet treats? Use our suet pellets and follow the recipes found here

Haith’s Selection

It’s important to find the right suet for your garden. Some people enjoy using suet balls which need a special feeder, while others are fans of fat feasts (rectangular blocks that go in their own feeder). Suet cookies are circular and can be placed in shrubs around the garden and pellets can be placed in an appropriate feeder.

Ensure you remain stringent with your cleaning routine to ensure feeding areas remain hygienic for your feathered friends.

Suet for Every Season

Just as robins are not only for Christmas, suet is not just for winter. So, as the seasons change and your garden transforms, keep the suet flowing!
