blue Tit

“Arguably THE favourite garden bird, and with good reason: They are very pretty and characterful, and indeed world famous for it. If American bird watching friends ever visit me, they inevitably request that I find them a Blue Tit to admire. Fortunately, it's not very difficult, as Blue & Great Tits are surely the birds for which the feeders were initially invented and my garden is rarely without them, whatever the time of year. Yes, even in summer. In fact (and here's a prompt for all round feeding) if you asked me which month was the busiest on my peanut, seed or mealworm feeders, I would say June. Now I know it used to be a rule that we shouldn't feed the birds in summer, but this is quite wrong. Of course bird food put out for freezing months can be a matter of life or death, but it is in late spring that and early summer that there are extra mouths to feed." Bill Oddie.

Blue Tits love Bill’s Finest Peanuts & fat balls. They will also take other mixtures containing nut granules, such as Garden Friendly, as well as Mealworms and Sunflower Seed.

A word of warning- ensure peanuts cannot be taken whole during the nesting season as adults may try to feed them to their small youngsters with potentially tragic results.

Blue Tits will readily take to closed in nest boxes with a 25mm diameter entrance hole.
