long-tailed tit

In recent years Long-tailed Tits have copied the hanging feeder habits of the Blue and Great Tits and now visit feeders frequently especially during cold weather. They will join in with feeding flocks of other tits and Nuthatches roaming through the hedgerows and gardens taking insects and other invertebrates but will easily turn to our bird tables and feeders as weather deteriorates.

Long-tailed Tits love Bill’s Finest Peanuts and recipes which include Peanut Granules, such as Bill’s Garden Friendly, from feeders and Mealworm Crumble if it is available.

They are delightful little birds with pink, black and white plumage and long black tail with white outer feathers.

They build a beautiful dome-shaped nest of moss woven in with spider's webs lined with large amounts of small, soft feathers and does not use nest boxes.
