“A Robin’s not just for Christmas! But...it has to be the Christmas bird doesn't it?

Robin's deserve all the love and publicity they get. There are several species of bird, in various parts of the world that the local people call `robins' but, lovely as some of them are, none can match our British Robin. The proof is that the bird on Christmas cards all over the world is our Robin. It's not that they look irresistibly cute and cheery, it's also the way that they behave: friendly, confiding and cheeky.
Male Robins are amongst the most aggressive of small birds and will fight rivals beak and claw. If you have Robins in your garden, it is well worth studying them as well as simply enjoying them. Also, look out for newly fledged youngsters, all speckly like small thrushes, and listen for the Robin's wistful song that sounds more joyful in summer, and sadder during the winter months.

Robins love Bill’s bird food crumbles: Due to the difficulty in finding food during the winter months Robins can lose up to 10% of their body weight so it is vital that highly nutritious foods, such as Mealworm Crumble, Fruit & Nut Crumble or Mealworm Muesli are put out for them so that they make it through the harsh winter months."
